Bhopal/New Delhi: "Irrigation facilities have played the most important role in raising farm income in Madhya Pradesh. Farmers are now able to harvest three crops per year. Agriculture loans at zero per cent interest, feeder separation, etc. are other schemes, which not only helped the state to improve agri-environment but also enhance its productivity."
This is what CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan suggested during the Niti Aayog's governing council's third meeting, to double farm income. The PM Narendra Modi praised the work done by Shivraj Singh Chouhan in this context.
Singh presented 15-slides as to how the income of farmers of the state could be doubled in the next five years. He also said that he will bring a holistic agriculture scheme in MP which will include agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and animal husbandry. The other CMs attending the meet, too, were very impressed with Singh's achievement and took tips on how to raise the income of farmers in their states. UP CM Yogi Adityanath asked Shivraj to how to bring electricity to those villages where there are no electricity poles even. To this, Singh replied that solar pump scheme, as is being done in MP, is the only way out. -With agencies
